Wind Spirit 1/5/08

We have been on Carnival cruises out of California, but never to the Carribbean or for that matter on a sailing ship. We are really looking forward to it. I read that you have sailed with this ship before. Is this correct? Any tips?

I've been on the Windstar, which is identical to the Wind Spirit. We sailed the Windstar from Athens to Istanbul. I really loved it, but I love the sailing. We also go to the Caribbean every year (on land), but we've never been to the Virgin Islands, so are really looking forward to that. Our other cruises have been on the Star Clipper. I would say that the Windstar is definitely more upscale than the Star Clipper--better food, better layout of the rooms. On the other hand, I'd give the edge on the sailing itself to Star Clipper as they really raise the sails by hand as opposed to by computer. But they are both wonderful. I can't really imagine sailing on a large cruise ship. I predict you're going to have a blast! The caribbean is absolutely beautiful--if you've never been there you will just be blown away by the color of the water--like nowhere else in the world. I look forward to meeting you. Kathy
