ccletzgo Posted December 21, 2007 #26 Share Posted December 21, 2007 I liter is approx 34 oz ~ 22 shots @ 1.5 oz. If drinks in the bar range $8-10 a pop, this comes out to ~ $176-220. You can continue with the math. I believe a can of soda from your mini bar is $3.50? maybe more. and you get 6 of those too!! :D
Wilde_37 Posted December 22, 2007 #27 Share Posted December 22, 2007 I just returned from a trans-atlantic crossing on the Millennium and on the last port before the main sea days (Las Palmas in the Canary Islands) there were dozens of people who just bought hard liquer in the port and walked back on board with it. At one stage the line in the supermarket was so long that it reached the back of the store. Everyone had to have their bags scanned when returning to the ship and not one person I observed had anything confiscated. I wonder if they were being lax or generous given that we were about to start a 5 day crossing! I managed to spend in excess of $600 on booze while on the 2 week cruise and it's sad to say that I never got drunk once - i think the booze was so watered down in the cocktails that it was almost missing! I may as well have spent the money on a soda card and then taken a few bottles onboard with me!

sarplum Posted December 23, 2007 #29 Share Posted December 23, 2007 We packed a bottle with our securely anchored with our clothes. We had martinis on our balcony every night until we stumbled into the martini bAR. the drinks were superbly mixed and the ambiance was great. We actually brought our original bottle half filled home. Incidentally we bought 2 bottles of Talisker in St.Thomas for the lowest price in years. They packed it superbly and delivered to the ship.
