Has anyone taken Mendenhall Float trip???

I was considering the Mendenhall Glacier float trip. Has anyone taken it? This will be my (and my mother's) first float trip and we'll be there in early Sept. I'm 40, she's 60. Any concerns?

Yes. I took it two weeks ago with my mom (62) and brother (22). Both thought that it was very boring and would not do it again. Basically, you sit on a raft for two hours and float down the mendenhall river. I thought the scenery was nice, but I probably wouldn't recommend it. Hope this helps.

I heard something similiar about the float trip in Skagway. Very boring, but the scenery is usually pretty nice. It might be worth a try.

I agree with mrr210...did the Juneau float trip last year...scenery is beautiful for the first 15 minutes only!...then your just floating very slowly past homes with views of backyards. Pick something else [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif[/img]

We did the float trip on our 1st cruise to Alaska and it was waste of money. You best bet is to take the walking tour, if your mom is up to it. Everyone's right it's a Boring ride and if raining gets real cool.

I have posted for years- money is better spent elsewhere, my opinion only. You get a brief distant view of Mendenhall- rest of trip is trees and backyards. Is anything else of interest? The float trip in Haines- is definately superior. But later in the season will have more eagles. Not likely other wildlife- mostly. Eco Orca runs a great raft tour.

How about the Hike and Float in Scagway?
