A swimming beach?

Is there a beach not too far from the cruise port where one can just go for a swim, not snorkel, but float and paddle around without concern for urchins?

Right as you get off the ship there is a fine beach. We used it last time we were in Grand Turk and will do so again. Margarittaville is there also and they have a huge pool. Unless you want to see the island there is no real need to leave the pier area. We took an island tour last time, but just want to do the beach/pool thing this time.
