Snoofer Posted November 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2007 We have an EARLY flight out of Hobby on our return to Galveston. Are taxi's readily available when you come out of the cruise port, or do you have to call for one? We want to be able to get going asap when we get off the ship on early departure. Thank you. Plant Posted November 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2007 It's been a while since we sailed out of Galveston so I hope someone will come along to give you a more positive answer! Taxi's were available at the port, but it was a real mess trying to get one. You were supposed to sign up at the taxi stand, but people were just leaving the terminal and grabbing the first taxi in line. This was a few years ago and before the early disembarkation was available, so I hope things have improved! Not that you asked, but how early is your flight from Hobby :)? Just as a "for instance", if your ship docks at 6:00 and early disembarkation starts at 8:00, the earliest I'd book a flight is 10:30. It could take up to an hour to get to Hobby and you need time to check your bags and go through security. I'm sure more recent Galveston cruisers will have better info :o . houstoncruisers2001 Posted December 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2007 The taxi line can get quite long, but with early disembarkation you should be able to beat the rush. Once you leave the port you should be able to get to Hobby Airport in 40-45 minutes as long as you don't encounter any traffic accidents along the way.
