advice for port canaveral

we will be sailing on the Mariner of the Seas in Jan., our family of 8 is flying to Orlando the day before and have rented a van from the airport to drive to our hotel. plan to drop off the van about 11 a.m. the day of sailing at port canaveral. what is the best process, drop off luggage and most of the family at the pier and then take the van to the rental place where they provide transportation to the ship? or everyone goes to the car rental place and we all ride back to the ship? I'm thinking the first is the way to go. open to any suggestions.

We used Budget and I dropped everyone off at the port and then returned the car. The time from when I left everyone until I returned was 20 minutes tops! Budget runs lots of smaller vans so I didn't have to wait for any other renters, they took just me. Would highly recommend them.
