If you're ending up in Honolulu, consider staying over a day or two. Below is a link to photos from our little 3-day visit there over the weekend. We rented a car and toured a lot of Oahu in three days (two, really since I was working in the morning and evenings except for the last day).

 

If you plan on staying a day or two afterwards, you really can see a lot in a couple of days with a car and a map. If you are just there for the day, check out the bus lines ahead of time. a lot of things like the Arizona Memorial and Waikiki are accessible via city transportation.

Ahhhh, the view from the lookout on the Pali Highway! Wasn't that magnificant?!?!? Just got back from six days on Oahu...can't wait to go back!
