mgasaway Posted November 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2007 Has anyone in the board taken the 'Best of Juneau' excursion offered by Princess? We are on the 9/14/08 Seattle R/T on the Star and are considering this all day tour. It offers whale watching, Mendenhall Glacier viewing (from the visitor center I presume) and a Salmon bake. I don't do float planes, helicopters or flights - I can curb my (ridiculous I know) fear of flying just long enough to get from Chicago to Seattle on a big jets. If anyone has experience on this tour, I'd love to hear your thoughts. 300 days!
NancyIL Posted November 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2007 I don't know if the ship's excursion includes admission to the visitor center, but you get pretty good views of Mendenhall Glacier from across the lake, near the visitor center. Most of the independent whale-watching vendors will also take you to Mendenhall Glacier after your boat trip. Some will come back for you to take you to the ship, or you could pay ~ $6/pp for a one-way shuttle back to town.
TwelveKitties Posted November 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2007 Two friends who traveled with us the past two years, took this tour in 2006. They loved it - saw lots of whales, etc. At that time it included the entrance fee to the visitor's center.
