BLS Posted November 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2007 Has anyone stayed at the Hotel? What did you think? Anything within walking distance? How are the rooms and food? This is the Hotle Princess is using for our May 1 09 Cruise. Thanks for the help! Bev
CruisenOne Posted November 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2007 We stayed in the Sheraton - Great Wall - pre-Cruise in November, 05. It is a long way from the Great Wall - About a two hour bus ride. We arrived at night; next morning I got up early to look for the Great Wall; no where in sight:confused: Rooms were very adequate. No complaints. VERY good Thai restraunt there. It's in the center; between the Lobby and the elevators; to the right. Menu is in Thai; however, the Menu has pictures. Try the Milk Soup. We walked to a "shopping mall"; DW forget to pack her walking shoes, so we bought a pair there. There is also a Hard Rock Cafe close by. Both: Go out of the Hotel, make a left to the main street; then, go right.

CruisenOne Posted November 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2007 Princess had a buffet set-up. Westren fare. When you go to the Great Wall -- The bus will leave you off in front of a Hotel. You will walk up a hill the the Gate. Remember which Gate you go through !!! The locals have a great con job at the Great Wall:( There are two Gates -- If you exit through the wrong Gate, you can get disorientated. The locals will want to charge you for a ride back to the Bus; about a two minute ride. Two women in our Group paid twenty dollars for a two minute ride. Enjoy the sights of Beijing:) When we were there, a few sights we under renovation for the Olympics. The renovations should be completed by now.
