star117 Posted November 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2007 What to do with luggage post-cruise, pre-flight? We disembark the Princess Diamond in Whittier on a Saturday and our United flight leaves from Anchorage at 8 pm that same day...there are 9 of us. We were thinking of taking the AK Leopard Tour to Anc, but what to do after that, especially with the luggage. I think ALT will drop you anywhere downtown ?? If anyone has used them before and could enlighten me on the experience, that would be great. Does the airport take luggage that early @ 12-1 for an 8 pm flight? Can you check your luggage as you disembark? We'll be flying United. I did read that you could fill out a form for $15 pp on the cruise - would this be for all of us or just the ones checking bags on the flight (our 2 kids won't have bags to check)? If I check bags through Princess, do I have to use their transfers from the ship to Anc? Also, I would be open to ideas for what to do for the afternoon (probably 1-6 pm) and a good place(s) to eat. Thanks in advance! diana
ARRTrain Posted November 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2007 I don't think you need a Princess transfer for the Bags, INC. luggage check in. Call the local Anchorage Office, they should be able to help you out with that question. 907-550-7711
star117 Posted November 27, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted November 27, 2007 Oh - is Bags, Inc independent of the cruiseline, then? I'd read somewhere that there was a form passed out early in the cruise, so I thought it was a Princess thing! Thanks!
cherylandtk Posted November 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 27, 2007 BAGS, Inc. is an independant company working with Princess. You will receive information onboard about the hours (usually a 3 hour minimum window before your flight, but may be longer for ANC) and how the service works. Basically sign up, pay fee and leave your bags. $15 pp checking bags (two bags pp), you do not need to use Princess transfers, but because of the location of Whittier, do be sure you have something else booked.
