Do I Have to Put Luggage Out the Night

before getting off the ship, or can we just carry it ourselves?

You can carry it yourself as long as you CAN carry it yourself. The self-disembarkation will be one of the first off the ship at around 7am or so.

You can carry it off yourself. We did last time. We went for breakfast very early - as soon as it opened in the Windjammer. Got back to the cabin around 7 a.m. and the cabin steward had the cabin door propped wide open with our luggage in plain view of the hall.

The only place you can't do it I am aware of is if you are sailing out of Bayonne.

Confirmed, there was no "self assist" departure at Bayonne, at least as of the last sailing of the 11/11/07, 12 day Explorer.

It's for all cruises - since you have to take a shuttle bus to and from the ship, they can't fit your luggage on there anyway.
