bogforce Posted November 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2007 Not sure where to post this. Anyone with experience with this? It's a ferry service from Florida to Grand Bahama Island. It is on a small cruise ship.
cruisead Posted November 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2007 Very, very old ships and what you can describe as a rust bucket. Basically a ferry to Bahamas. No amenities and not much to do. You could do better by just flying to Nassau and staying there.
bogforce Posted November 30, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted November 30, 2007 My wife can't fly. Has anyone used this ferry service? Thanks.
Raceroc Posted November 30, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2007 Go to "Cruise Lines A-O". Then to "Other cruise lines" and do a search for "Discovery Sun". I would recommend upgrading to Carnival or Royal Caribbean. It's a little more money but you gain alot. Enjoy your cruise!
startraveler Posted December 5, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2007 Just remember you get what you paid for. If you're looking for transportation, will be staying at a hotel in the Bahamas, and are fine with spending the five or so hours travel time either snoozing in the lounge or reading a book there, then take Discovery Cruise (I did, in December 2004.) I didn't need all the frills of shows or casinos (though there is a casino on board), and since we boarded at 6 or 7 a.m., I was fine with not paying for a cabin and instead snoozing in one of the lounges. True, just like a long car ride, I was antsy once a good couple of hours has passed and I had gone through the gift shop and ship a few times (it's about a 20K ton ship), but I don't regret having gone. Heck, except for the fact I feel I've already done everything in Nassau, I'd take Imperial Cruises to the Bahamas, and if it were easier to get to St. Martin/St. Maarten, I'd do easyCruise.
