Our first cruise was on Grand Princess. This year's trip will be on HAL. Other than ship size, can anyone give me comparisons?

they are pretty similar.

 

i'd say the dress code compliance was about the same. beds much better on hal. hal cruisers are older. hal cabins are a bit bigger. more fresh flowers scattered about on hal. real towels in the public restrooms.

 

i'd give the food and service equal ratings on hal.

In my experience, the service and "can do" attitude is more on HAL. I found the food in the diningroom and buffet to be much better. Specialty restaurants are a toss up. And a definate plus is being able to stay in your stateroom until it's time to disembark on the final day.
