Yes-each room has a control for AC--however when it wasn't working--a certain sectioon of the ship had no AC---no matter how much you tried to turn it up or down--or even open the balcony door--it was like an oven. We went and hung out in CL. For our cruise--it was fixed and worked fine for the rest of the time.

Hey Everyone,

Getting kind of worried about the cruise... Been reading about the problems s I decided to call Royal Caribbean about an hour ago and they did confirm that this stuff is true  I called twice and was told both times that the problem is trying to be fixed, and between the cruise this week and ours there is a small break and they will be trying to fix it then. They did say there is a chance it will be dry docked and in that case, everyone would get a refund and a possible discount coupon or if there is another ship big enough and available they may move us to that one. I was told that hopefully they will know one week before our cruise and notify people by email or phone call, which means we should hear something by the 7th. She also said worse case scenerio, everyone goes on with their plans, arrives at port and they decide not to take sail!!! How much would that Suck!!!! I am hoping that this gets fixed and we have smooth sailing, I really need this trip.... Maybe if people start calling RC they will try to fix it soon...

Thanks....I picked this ship BECAUSE of all the previous wonderful reviews, and so wanted to sail on her.....not concerned changing ports (have had it happen before).. if AC isn't perfect, I wil sleep on my coveted corner aft balcony,...lol....

I was also on this cruise...and had my wonderful aft corner balcony #7666. Our A/C worked and that is THE BEST CABIN EVER! While our room service breakfast was not really good (the eggs in particular), I highly recommend you eat breakfast on the balcony. :)

However, the tendering situation in Cozumel was absolutely horrible - huge delays. Coco Cay was not much better.

With the exception of one rude employee in the casino, the staff was superb. They were working their tushes off to serve us. It was circumstances outside of their control that made our cruise difficult. We were disappointed in our port experiences (except for Key West), but had such a great time with our corner aft balcony that our overall experience was still good.

I will also add that RCCL does not communicate well with their excursion providers. We got bad info...even when we tried to confirm it with the Explorations desk... We basically walked out of our Cozumel excursion (after waiting for 2 hours for it PLUS 1.5 hours for the tender) due to this "bad information" (and were granted a full refund and apology).

Excursions were delayed because the Enchantment was not supposed to be in Cozumel that day - so we were "piggy-backed" onto excursions with other cruise lines...MAJOR OVERCROWDING. Our excursion was supposed to be for 12 people but now had 36 - and we had to wait for passengers from another cruise line to arrive before we could begin... It was a complete waste of day.

Thank God for that aft balcony...which restored my sanity.

I will post a full review once I get my life more organized :)

FWIW, I would sail on the Enchantment again NOW if I could have....a great crew.

On our cruise (which debarked 12/1), we were told that there were some "Big Wigs" sailing on the 12/1 cruise, I think even the CEO himself, as they were filming something in the concierge lounge. I'm hoping for very near future cruisers that they didn't just keep this cruise scheduled with port changes, and then will cancel the upcoming cruise.

The not knowing is enough to drive you crazy. Even if they keep the next cruise scheduled, will the ports change?

They are obviously still having some pretty serious issues. :(

Hello, I'm sailing on the Enchantment on 12/6. And it's my first cruise, ever. I guess I will join others that will probably be calling RCCL today. I am scheduled to fly out on 12/5.

This is true--I called my TA last week concerned about our trip--and she said the owner of the company is sailing Enchantment and will get the full scoop and she will call me on Wednesay morning to let me know any info she can.

I just called RC and they had "no idea" about the electrical problems, etc. They asked me to call back later this morning. Makes me wonder just a little bit....

Call back in 2 minutes, speak to someone else, and you'll probably get a totally different response. It's frustrating when we know more about what's happening with their ships than some of their Cust. Svc. people do.

And I just called and was told that there have been no schedule changes due to the known problem and that he can say nothing more until they have a release from the CEO concerning the problem. Ugh!

Okay, I'm officially a WRECK now. Could someone ease my uneasiness? Please?

Cathy

Cathy, Don't stress over it. You will still have a great time, we did. There were several bumps in the road, but make the best of it. The only advice I would give, it only book excersions thru the ship. If you book them thru outside vendors, you may have problems.

Does the EOS normally tender in Coz even without the itinerary switched? I'm supposed to be on the ship a week from today (keep your fingers crossed!!). I tendered in Coz when on a cruise from Carnival and it sounds exactly like what was described--I just assumed it was always like that. I was hoping to be able to dock this time.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

I read about tendering from Enchantment to Coz and was kind of perplexed. The only other time I was there was on Voyager which is a wee bit bigger than Enchantment and she docked so I'm wondering why the tendering from the smaller ship...unless the docks were full and they just had the bad luck to have to tender.

I was on the Nov 5 sailing to KW, Coz and CocoCay. We docked in Coz. Tendering was not terrible in CocoCay. Just had to wait a bit. They can fit 300 people on a tender, so once they get the tender there, it can take some time to fill, but they do move you right along. I have to say, in 20 cruises on 4 different cruise lines, I've yet to see tendering done really well. There will always be people who try to cut the line, etc. I always say, pack your patience with your towel and sunscreen, you'll need it. And if the seas are rough, as someone said they were in Cozumel, that will slow down the process even more.

I am really sorry to hear about these problems with the Enchantment. She is my favorite ship by far and we have enjoyed all 3 of our cruises on her. I hope they get her back up to snuff soon.

Well stated Shirley! I work port security in the Northeast. Between Sept 1 and Oct 31 we see 87 cruise ships from several different lines. Very few have a handle on tendering ops. I won't point fingers or name names, but one particular ship comes to port 1-2 times per week (depending on which leg they are on), and they still have people waiting on shore for up to 1 1/2 hours. Granted, the seas in our corner of the world can be tough for conducting tendering operations, but most of the slow down comes from five basic things:

1) fuel conservation. This means they run fewer tenders in the middle of the day

2) bunkering. The tenders must be refueled after making so many trips back and forth to the mother ship. One tender out of commission means 90 less people each trip to and from shore.

3) preparing to get underway. The tenders must be raised up on to the ship before they leave. The pilot is getting MEGA dollars per trip and his time is tight. They can't make him wait while they secure the tenders, so they begin pulling them aboard approx 2 hours before departure.

4) weather. Do you want to be safe or be on time?

5) everyone trying to get back at "peak" times. Everyone tries to get the tender back for lunch. Head back a little early or have lunch onshore. If last tender is at 1700 (5pm) don't show up at quarter til and not expect to see a line!

Lines = cranky passengers. I've been pushed, spit at, cussed out, and bribed. Due to post 9/11 maritime security acts, we are required by the Dept of Homeland Security to see a government issued photo ID if the cruise line does not provide a photo on the card (Seabourne, Cunard, and Crystal all have photos stamped into the card rather). This really ticks people off. I simply smile and remind them that we all wish there were tighter security measues in place on Sept 11, 2001.

sorry, got sidetracked... anyway, tendering glitches happen even in the higher priced lines. Tendering is tendering. Relax, you are on vacation. If the line is long, find a local pub or coffee shop and wait until it goes down. If you don't want to get out of line, meet the people behind you. The ship won't leave without you.;)

gonefishin, thanks for a really enlightening post. Spit at? I'm still amazed at some people's behavior. We are all told to leave the ship with a photo id and our ship card. It's not like it's a surprise.

Anyway, have a happy holiday! :D
