Dress Attire on VOS

We are going to be on the VOS in a week. Wondering what is the dress attire like. I know there is one formal night, but what do you wear for the other nights dinners. Thanks for the help.

Depending on how many nights your cruise is there are probably two formal nights. I usually take one formal dress and a black pantsuit with a few tops (some very dressy) that I can wear depending on the "theme" of the night. That way I can wear the black pants with the jacket or without several nights. There are a wide variety of things that people wear some dress way down and some dress very formal. Patti

I have my formal attire, but was wondering about the other nights. Do I wear kwaki or what?

What are the dress codes onboard?

There are three distinct types of evenings onboard: casual, smart casual and formal. Suggested guidelines for these nights are:

 

Casual: Sport shirts and slacks for men, sundresses or pants for women

Smart Casual: Jackets and ties for men, dresses or pantsuits for women

Formal: Suits and ties or tuxedos for men, cocktail dresses for women

 

3 to 4-night cruises include one formal night and two or three casual nights.

5 - nights include one formal, one smart casual and three casual nights.

7-night cruises include two formal nights, one smart casual night and four casual nights.

10, 11, and 12-night cruises include three formal nights and three smart casual nights, all other nights are casual.

14 and 15-night cruises include three formal nights and four smart casual nights. All other nights are casual.

We just returned from the VOS 8/27 sailing and my husband and boys wore suits on formal nights and dress dockers with a nice shirt. There were some people even on formal nights that wore very casual clothes – baseball hats and basketball jerseys with shorts. Wish they would enforce the dress code or do away with it. We had Ping and Eduardo and they were the best waiters!

Thanks - That is what I thought. I have packed dress pants and shirts for husband and dresses and nice pant suits for myself. But I dont want to over pack being we are driving for 12 hours to get to ship. So I think I will be okay with what I have. Thanks again for the help, that is what I like about this board.

I was on VOS 8/20 Alaska trip. There were two formal nights. Jacket and ties are appropriate, but I also saw many men wearing tuxedos. VOS has a tuxedo rental service if the urge hits you. Most women were wearing formal evening gowns. On the last formal night, I saw the family men in the table next to ours wearing khakis and golf shirts. They were allowed to stay but they were definitely in the minority. Of course skipping formal wear altogether and dining in the Windjammer cafe (buffet) is also an option. For the other the days the Aquarius dining room follows a casual dress code.
