i think i know that it was 1 of 2 groups i saw. one was a woman so drunk the male had to use her arm like a leash...to pull or tug her from falling over. she started yelling at her friends that they had stole her drink.

another was a tall, big man..every time we saw him was was doing a texas yell...very loud.

or the 2 young couples that distrubed bingo with their loud talk?

or the drunk that came back from cozumel late (as they were pulling up the gangway) and was escorted on the ship by security. after doing his drunk dance, waving his sombrero. wanted to get the stupid act on video to show everyone on the internet, but only got a photo.

Thanks so much for your review. It was very informative. I agree with you on how some people are always negative. If you think your trip will be bad it will. If you are going to have a good time you will. After all it's a vacation. Just let it go is my motto. I am going on the Spirit in January with my DH. His first cruise my second. I was on the wind in April last year in Hawaii. There was a the sweetest waitress named Alexandra she was great wonder if the Spirit is where she went after the Wind closed. Looking forward to see your pictures.

Although we found the Spirit to have great food and room services, our vacation was a disappointent due to lound and profane young folks on deck 10 starboard. This bad conduct started on Sunday night and was repeated though Wednesday night. I called Security and one person was taken out of the room across from mine and the situation was calm after that. One woman was sceaming for help as she had been beaten. Don't know the outcome of this. The people on either side of us as well as the cabin attendants had to call Security during these three days. We are frequent cruisers on NCL and notified Guest Relations or our dissatisfaction but have not had a response.

This is what I was alluding to earlier, about my main complaint being my fellow passengers. Was this in the vicinity of the 10060 range of cabins, but chance?

The night in Cozumel we left our cabin a few yards aft of this area to see a security guard and steward pounding on a door. When we returned, the security guard had taken a chair and was sitting guard outside.

At one point, we heard loud voices (an argument) between the guard and another male but couldn't determine the exact cause. All we heard was that he was saying "I just want to see my wife" over and over again.

Our neighbor had witnessed a woman who couldn't even stand try to board the ship (20 minutes late) in Cozumel....after they had already pulled the gangway in. They did bring her on, we suspected perhaps this was the wife he was speaking of. But who knows.

We had a few cerveza's in Cozumel too, but had no trouble making it back to the ship in plenty of time.

What stateroom were you in? Some friends we met on board were also on deck 10, and they said they couldn't sleep due to the noise and that their family across the hall had to call security several times as well. They also reported smelling marijuana several times. They said the people in the room next door were yelling profanities and it sounded like they were running in circles in the room all night.

My brother saw those 2 wackos in Cozumel; they held up our departure! He said the man and woman were so drunk they had to be literally pulled onboard by security! SHEESH!

I am sorry for those of you who suffered on 10 starbord; if I had been in your vicinity I doubt I'd be so happy-go-lucky about my experience. as it stands we were all 10 port side and it was quiet most of the time.

It sounds like ALL the troublemakers were on deck 10. What a nightmare. With young kids sailing with us, that would have totally ruined our entire week. When they can't sleep (and who can sleep with that kind of stuff going on?) the days are just not pleasant at all.

Also, we spoke to some people who were literally afraid of retaliation from one of the rowdy groups, because they were really mad about having security called on them. Not a great way to spend your cruise, watching your back because you feel threatened by people!

On a related note, I encountered a VERY drunk man in the casino the first night - he had apparently just won a lot of money, so he proceeded to get very, very inebriated. He grabbed my breast, then made some lewd comments at me. I mentioned that my husband was playing blackjack, sort of as a "warning" to get him to back off, and he told me he would "f* him up" and kill my whole family while he was at it. He carried on for a few more minutes longer, then accosted one of the female employees in the casino. I told the bartender they needed to call security, because he had this woman cornered and she looked really upset. The bartenders wouldn't do anything about it. I was about to look for security when the guy wandered out of the casino and headed for the stairs. I saw him a few days later with his wife and young son, and he looked sober - hopefully he behaved himself better after that first night.

That's the one bad thing about cruises - when you get stuck on a ship with (or worse, in a stateroom next to) obnoxious morons. And it seems that when you meet really nice people, you never run into them again - but when someone acts like a *****, they seem to turn up every time you leave your room!

yep, the ship's officer came out and was pointing to them, then at the ship. the guy was dancing around like a jerk. then 2 of the ship's security came out and lifted him up by the elbows, carried him over the gangplank..i mean gangway. then she went back to the backseat of the bike they came on, got something...was messing around until another of the ship's security came over and got her by the elbow..almost dragged her up the gangway.

thank goodness it really was not the majority. just that the few drunks the ship had were loud about it. our section of rooms had no problems what so ever.

Hi Cathi ... thanks for all the details and appreciate the time to post it. My family and I are going on our 2nd cruise in April 08 on Spirit and I am soooooo looking forward to it. The Spirit sounds beautiful, and anywhere I can be on vacation and not have to cook and clean will be an amazing experience!!! :D Cathy

thanx everyone, hope this helps the ones going on the ship. just heard my DH talking to his sister. she was with us on the NCL star last year. he was telling her how much he liked the star, but that the spirit was smaller, easy to get around and that he really like everything about this ship. that's something, he isn't know for raves.

DAM!! why didnt yall come get us? no wonder we were so bored all the excitement was up on the 10th floor. never did drugs in my life but during that cruise i wish i would have known about what was going on on the 10th i would have came and sniffed some of the marijuana smoke that would have at least help me get down the food in the buffet.

we saw those same two idiots on the streets in cozumel around 3:30

the guy came out of a store and knocked over a rack of caps with the women stumbling behind, also saw the woman that was beat up a few times on the ship with her proud husband beside her.

i guess everybody got up so early that they went to bed by 7pm.

you know there was a red disco bar on the 13th floor that never opened at all.

as soon as the light started coming thru the curtains, we were waking up. i had to get because part of the fun, for me, is taking pictures. since we were on the port side, we got the sunrise going and the sunsets coming back. that was perfect for me and my new digital.

i was to thank everyone on CC, with all the requests for photo and information, i stayed so busy the whole trip..it was great. i want DH to do a report for the newspaper, he is a great writer and i have all the information in my notes:D

he must have had a great time, he was a zombie all day yesterday...cruise withdrawal.

It's billed on the NCL site as a "teen disco" but we also walked through it numerous times and there was never anyone in there. I guess there weren't enough teens on board to justify doing anything there.

It's interesting that another poster here went on the Spirit another week and said there were 40 or so people dancing in Maharini's each night. I guess we just went on a week with not too many "partiers." Now I'm worried the same thing will happen on the Fantasy on January 17th! We plan to be at the disco from 11 PM until it closes each night, so there better be lots of other people with the same thing in mind!!!

i didn't notice any teens on this cruise, saw a few kids...loved the parade through the ship on saturday. 2 lines of little pirates..they were so cute!!!

I totally missed this. Greg and I were in the shops, and we heard them yelling and I ran out with my camera to try to get a photo of my kids, but they had just walked into the Blue Lagoon. There were about 20 kids who participated in the kids' crew with my children, and they all seemed to have a great time. My kids said it was just as fun as on Carnival, which was really saying something because they LOVE Camp Carnival.

We'll be on the Spirit Dec. 30-Jan. 6. New Year's Eve should be fun. We have cabins 10081 and 10082, hope any pot residual is gone by then. lol I got enough second hand smoke from my old concert going days in the 80s to last a lifetime.

my email is my CC name @ yahoo.com. send me your email, in case i got a photo...i haven't been through them all yet and there are some still in the camera. i tried to get a photo that didn't show faces, so i could post it to show what the kids get to do...but i don't know where it is.

i lost a whole group to photos, yesterday...i knew i had edited them while on the cruise. but the whole file was lost...i (almost) freaked. but then i remembered i had moved some file, started looking on the laptop and yep! there they were, in some other program's file.

i have so many photos, the only way to can get them from the laptop to my pc is file sharing...too many for the disks without going back and forth several times. the file sharing is easier, except right noww it's not working...but it will, it better!!

if you weren't looking for them, you didn't see them. i only know of 2 groups of drinkers...just happens to see them a few times. except at bingo, i was never close enough to let them bother me. mostly it was funny to see them trying to walk on a moving ship:eek: , we had no ship's motions...the smoothest ride i have ever had...and these guys could not walk straight...it was fun to watch;) .

it was strange to NOT be able to have a converstion with your neighbor, while standing at the balcony...that was a 1st. the crew more then made up for it with their smiles and friendliness.

Thanks for a very thorough review.

It sounds like the ship was a bit overloaded with negative people and drunken idiots.

I think it's a bit unfair to label those of us who were critical of the ship "negative." I talked to dozens of people throughout the cruise who all said they were having a good time (as we were) but who felt this cruise lacked on many levels in comparison to other cruises they've taken. Had we never cruised before we would have probably felt everything was much more impressive. But having been on 8 cruises previously which had better food, better crew, and better entertainment, it's hard not to compare and to be a little disappointed.

I don't think many of us are "negative" people - we just found NCL to miss the mark on a few things.
