Pride of Aloha checkin time/non smoking rooms

We are booked on POA Dec 12th. Unfortunatley, our flight from Vanouver does not land until about 9:00 PM on the first day of the cruise. (The ship does not depart Honolulu until 6:00 PM the next day, Dec 13th). Our travel agent assured us that we could check in late on the ship, but I've been reading other threads and came across one that said check it is closed after 5:00 pm, as the check in staff go home. I'm hoping I mis-understood, and they meant on the actual day of departure (Dec 13th), not the first day of the cruise. Can anybody please clear this up. I really don't want to arrive at the ship and not be able to board at 10:00 at night...:eek:

 

Also, I am allergic to ciggarette smoke, and I was told that all rooms are non-smoking, but I see from the various threads that this is not true. Is it just certain areas that are designated smoking (or non?). Our room is 8231.

Smoking is permitted in all cabins on all NCL ships, there are no non-smoking cabins. Smoking in all other indoor spaces is restricted to the Casino and Cigar Bar.

It may have been my post about the checkin time that you saw. I asked my PCC the exact same question you asked here (we're on the sailing on Jan 23rd) and she said 6pm for them to go home (still I'm personally thinking something will be set up for late arrivals - I hope)

 

Hopefully they won't do to you what they have to us though (and I'd be shocked if they did at this short notice). They changed our itinerary and now we sailaway on the first day (and have a Honolulu overnight at the end of the cruise). I'm already checking air fares from HNL to kona-just in case.

I haven't been able to get an answer about this - and we can't change our flights because we leave tomorrow....so, we are just hoping for the best, and expecting we may have to get a hotel for the night. :( However, once we return, I will post it the answer, so you can check back and find your answer here.

NO Problem what so ever with checking in - we arrived at the ship at about 10:00 pm, and went through security and then went to reception and checked in. Good service and friendly staff.

Has this recently changed? When we were on a Pride ship in HI, Sept sept 2006, we were told there was no smoking in the cabins on the US flagged ships.

We were on the Pride of Hawaii in October and, unfortunately, it is not true. Smoking is permitted in the cabins.

I wish that it wasn't allowed in the sleeping quarters since not only smokers will be renting the cabins over the years.
