DON M. Posted December 13, 2007 #26 Share Posted December 13, 2007 No, don't change Quest, just stop allowing guests bring all the crap in while keeping it 18 and older. Check ID's at the door. Great idea, have an inspection at the door for all purses and undergarments.
JJSMaine Posted December 13, 2007 #27 Share Posted December 13, 2007 I've never seen Quest, but by the sounds of it, I won't need to. What's the point of it if you know what Monty is going to ask for?.. :D I suppose there is no way to screen out those that have already played the game... Sugar*Magnolia Posted December 13, 2007 #28 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Can someone tell me...WHAT IS IT THAT PEOPLE BRING?? I wear my bra, carry a small purse- I keep my teeth and I cant help but always walk in with a cocktail............(DHs usually has a lime). I admit I thought of fake teeth at halloween-time, but........... Lost on what the issue is and what are the so many things people go to quest with...........???? If you cruise 1-2X a year Quest will always be fresh and it is always a twist diff with different people and how the act/react.

If you go in with the intention of "not winning", it can be alot of fun regardless if you participate or not.
tracey980 Posted December 14, 2007 #30 Share Posted December 14, 2007 I agree that the game does need a change since people are prepared, but it still remains to be great fun.
njcruisebunny Posted December 14, 2007 #31 Share Posted December 14, 2007 Our section won the quest last year and they did not hand out any kind of prizes--not even those precious key chains or t-shirts (like they did before the cost cutting days came). Also they hold it at the same time as the 70's dance in the promenade. Both things are fun and it's hard to believe on a 7 night cruise they can't space the good things out. NancyB84 Posted December 14, 2007 #32 Share Posted December 14, 2007 On Serenade in Jan... they had people (staff) wandering around making sure people didn't have quest items in their bags.... they watched most of the people pretty carefully to make sure it was fair. I would love to see different things asked for.... love to see people have to think about their "quests". Overall it was a great game.... and our team won... without cheating! ;-) Although, I admit, I knew some of the things they would ask for. But, they were things I already had on my person to begin wtih.
Javadelcamp Posted December 14, 2007 #33 Share Posted December 14, 2007 We enjoy the quest...but our "team leaders"...really fought their way to the front row so they could make themselves the leader! Now...keep in mind, we did NOT want to be the leaders, but other people sitting by us did. I hate that, too! I won't go to Quest again because on our last few cruises very prepared people fought their way to the front and didn't give anyone else a chance to be team leader. I'm not sure how they could change it, but when they called out the items needed and noonein our section needed to participate, it wasn't as fun. Last time we went to the Quest we didn't realize that we were seated in a section of a group cruising together that had brought all of the items. They were pretty much exclusive, and none of the rest of us even got to participate. Boo to being overprepared and excluding the rest of your section/team! bychance Posted December 14, 2007 #34 Share Posted December 14, 2007 We have now taken three cruises and I think the Quest game is great fun, however it seems that experienced RC cruisers really know what to expect and it seems that it kinda takes the fun out of it. I would like to see RC change up the Quest to liven up the spontanaity (I know that's now spelled right...but you get the picture). Opinions?? let's hear it! I have yet to sail RCL but when I do, I want to play the quest game. So I vote they keep it just as it is ( I have heard fun things about this game)! When experienced cruisers get tired of something it makes room for us newbies! When you cruise 30 times ( an exageration ) a year I can see that the entertainment will get stale. But for me, a once in a while cruiser, I want it all! Belly Flop Hairy Chest Red, White and Blue Singing Waiters Casino Horse Racing Bingo Martini Bar QUEST GAME I am the boss at my job so when I go on vacation I am looking for mindless. I hope to be an experienced cruiser one day. bychance
gaileeh Posted December 14, 2007 #35 Share Posted December 14, 2007 We experienced Quest the first time on our last cruise this past September. Yes I thought it was hilarious, but the fact that people come toting a bag full of props just to win trinkets is very sad. Later on in the cruise I spoke with one of the team members that had won first place and she told me very proudly that their team allways wins. The last 11 cruises she had been on her team had won because she "came prepared". I can't imagine that a trinket won while cheating is really worth having. I also can't help thinking that the CD's know about this problem, so; they should try to shake thing up a bit to keep it fair for everyone. constantcruiser Posted December 14, 2007 #37 Share Posted December 14, 2007 Quest used to be our favorite part of any cruise -- but lately it's gotten out of hand. There are parts of my fellow passengers that I've seen enough of at the pool!
Sugar*Magnolia Posted December 14, 2007 #38 Share Posted December 14, 2007 Going through my pics from this past Julys cruise..... Lets see, the CD starts off by asking for Team captains, the captains have to find people in their section to form a pyramid, to help one of the captains wear one pair of pants and walk, find a mans belt, do the worm, find 5 ladies to do the can-can, find a ladies bra and purse, a set of teeth (ok, this is the first thing someone can come prepared with), A REAL TATTOO, and a pair of ladies shoes. Oh and I think a lemon or a lime! lol I must be missing something, because I am confused at what the things are that people come prepared with 'bags full of stuff"???? Personally, we have never seen prizes at QUEST, so I dont know if thats what it is really about  It is about just having FUN! If you dont have fun at Quest, you're with the wrong crowd! lmao Also, to the poster who mentioned that RCI schedules 70s on the Promenade and Quest at the same time, actually Quest is immediately following the 70s on the Promenade, they arent scheduled at the same time. We have late seating, so unfortunately we miss 70s on the Promenade ;( but we make Quest! Sorry, the secret (which is NOT much of a secret, lol) is OUT, so whats the fuss? Do people really 'pack a bra' JUST for quest??
cruisePRN Posted December 15, 2007 #39 Share Posted December 15, 2007 I sailed on the Monarch last week with some friends who had not been to quest and watching them was a hoot. I didn't particularly like the cruise director Johnny O who ran the Quest.
crusinmama06 Posted December 15, 2007 #40 Share Posted December 15, 2007 YES! YES! AND YES!!!! NO DOUBT! I think they should change the questions for Quest AND for the "Not So Newly Wed Game" Ten years had past since I had been to both, neither had changed in 10 years. TexCruise371 Posted December 15, 2007 #41 Share Posted December 15, 2007 Yes, the Quest needs to be updated! Anyone that's been on a RCI cruise knows what to expect, it's almost like cheating. The Love/Marriage game was exactly the same as it was on our cruise 5 years ago!!! Another game that anyone who's sailed before knows the "answers" to. RCI needs to mix it up a bit. They did the same "Village People" dance as 5 years ago too (although, I love it every time!). My thoughts exactly!

Pechez Posted December 15, 2007 #43 Share Posted December 15, 2007 I had not heard of this "game" before, but we are leaving in the AM for Freedom of the Seas cruise and my "quest" is to find this 'Quest' game. Can ANYONE tell me if the Freedom has this game? I am very intrigued now.
PhoenixCruiser Posted December 15, 2007 #44 Share Posted December 15, 2007 Can ANYONE tell me if the Freedom has this game? I am very intrigued now. All ships have the Quest game, that is why so many cruisers know what to take in order to win  ###
