wlfarm Posted December 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Has anyone done the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge cruise tour that Celebrity offer, or with any other cruise line? How was it? Was most of it guided, were guides good and did they cpend alot of time with you?How many meals are included? Beautiful scenery? What did you do on your free time? How was the town? Any suggestion for must see or do, or skip? Thank you for any information that you can provide!
Budget Queen Posted December 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2007 Talkeetna Alaska Lodge is beautiful and an extremely nice property. IF you are referring to "guides" in Talkeetna??? This is a VERY small town, with a library, small museum, Park Service climbing center a few restaurants and thats about it. Most people are shuttled from the lodge, to town, which has an unobstructed expansive view of McKinley- if "out", which it seldom is. No meals are included unless specifically mentioned, budget 50% more than you would at home. In Talkeetna, the top tour choice in my opinion, are McKinley flights, your likely only way to see it. Another BIG factor you need to be concerned about is if you are going to Denali Park??? If so, be certain you are ONLY on the Tundra Wilderness tour and NOT the Natural History tour- which is worthless. You want to get INTO the park and don't with the Natural History tour. It is a big difference, unless you don't care about seeing the scenery or wildlife.
