HAL Baggage handling Fort Laud is great

Just back from a 17 day cruise on the Amsterdam. It was a real positive experience. Having Holland America transfer your baggage to the airport is a very good idea and has some real advantages. You have your airport boarding pass prior to leaving the ship. Cost is $15.00 per person and you simply claim your bags in a special area very close to customs and carry them thru where they are loaded into a truck. Crab a cab and $15.00 and less than 15 minutes you are at the airport. Can't be simpler. Those who choose not to do this end up having to drag the bags thru the airport and the big plus is if you have a later flight there is no waiting at the airport with your luggage you are about to check. The Fort Lauderdale airport won't let you check in any earlier than three hours before your flight so there you sit babysitting your bags for maybe several hours. Those people who use this service also get off the ship very early if they wish to do so. It is well worth the money...... I could be wrong but I strongly believe that an overweight bag has a very good chance of going unnoticed using this service.... Anyone having a flight after noon should definitely use this service.
