Thomson celebration

Recommended Posts

Thinking about booking a cruise from Newcastle to the Norwegian fjords, been there twice, QE2 and FO Boudicca. Love the area. Anybody been on Celebration? Looking on Thomson website, she looks good. Anybody got tips on best Cabins. A lot of the deluxe cabins views seem to be obscured by lifeboats etc. Is it better to get an outside cabin lower down? Dennis

We usually book cabins on main deck. Some only have portholes but if you make sure you book one with a full window (the ones nearer to midships) they are fine. Really don't think it is worth paying for more than these as we have never had any problems with them.:)

We've stayed in suite 119 (deck7? 8?) and found that the 'obscured view' was literally just the very bottom of the boat hanging at the top of the window. It did not spoil our view at all. But we did not have any time to look out of the windows - too busy elsewhere enjoying the facilities.

We were on Promenade deck midships (223) on our last cruise in october/November and it was fine...cabins near the back of the ship felt some vibrations...we had picture window, spacious cabin and a bath as well as a shower. We like the promenade deck when there are no balconies as you can just nip out the nearest door and sit or stand to watch the world go by!!!We felt we were well placed for most things i.e. dining, gangway ashore etc. We loved this ship and its crew who are mostly Philipino and the best ever!!

Hi

I have just booked today for the Fire and Ice cruise in July on the Celebration.

We were on the Celebration just last month doing the Red Sea Magic. We were on deck 8 - room 71 which was a deluxe room. The room was fab but we did have a lifeboat outside our window. Didn't spoil it too much though as we didn't spend that much time in our room. This next cruise we have gone for deck 3 or 4 outside cabin is it is a lot more expensive than the red sea cruise.

The ship is great, the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are some bits of the ship that are a bit like Butlins on a boat ;) but we just avoided these areas! There are some other lovely places on board!

The canteen style restaurant was OK - food not brilliant but a good choice. The Meridian Restaurant was lovely.

I haven't been an any other cruise but was happy that this next one was the Celebration.

We have just come back froma Red Sea Magic cruise, and stayed in cabin 231 on the Prominade Deck- views were fine. However we were too close to the Broadway Lounge, and could hear the entertainment if having an early night! A cabin on this floor in the middle section is best (same standard). Loads of wardrobe space, and nice picture window ( albeit onto the prom deck).

Was on Celebration in summer in the med- lovely ship, excellent staff and a wonderful cruise, something for everyone- the best thing about Thomson cruises is the excellent value for money. We always found the food to be excellent- either Lido buffet or Meridian- we always get a midship cabin inside or outside since we only sleep in the cabin and not bothered about the view from the cabin since there is ample deck space to savour the wonderful views.

Smoking was allowed on open decks in designated areas and in designated area in Liberties night club

Thanks all, think I will go ahead and book this ship. Newcastle is only 75 miles from home, makes a change not having to travel down to Southampton or Dover. Any one know what the latest smoking policy is on Thomson ships?

We have just returned

smoking is only allowed on one side of the lido deck, left hand side of the promenade deck (Looking forward) and on the left hand third of Liberties.
