lbt43 Posted December 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2007 I was in Samana and Las Galeras over the past 4 days, meeting my paresnts who were on the Oceana 26 day cruise which stopped in Samana. We did an excursion through Casa Dorado ( http://www.casadoradodr.com ) they took 9 of us to Playa Rincon, one of the best beaches in the world. The taxi picked us up from the dock in Samana around 945, my parents got the third tender to the shore, so they were a bit late. The taxi ride was enjoyable, about 40 minutes with a great cab driver who lives in Samana and told us a lot about the island, cost us 80 US round trip. Once we got to Rincon, Captain Roberto of Casa Dorado took us there via his Ferry there were very few people there, which was great, we had a secluded beach all to ourselves. The vendors were not aggressive at all, but we all bought some beach chairs (4 each) and some cigars, 3 boxes for 120 dollars, plus the guy threw in a small box, since we bought so much. THere was a little colmado/eatery on the beach with beer and soda and fresh seafood. We all hung out there for about 3 hours then back to Cayo Levantado so my parents and their friends could catch the last tender to the ship. It was a very fun day to say the least. Casa Dorado treated us very well, we would definitely use them again if we are in Samana or Las Galeras.
