After they started running tours on it, they saw that there were some improvements they could make to the boat, including how it was riding on the water, etc. So, now that it's whale season and they're occupied running whale watching tours on the zodiacs, they have pulled the submarine out of the water and hope to have it running again by the time whale season is over at the end of March. When it does come back, though, it's within easy walking distance of the ship tender piers. It's right on the marina that you arrive into. No problem getting there. Water temps in January are normally in the mid-70s. Cool at first, but it warms up as you get used to it (like a lake in the summertime if you're from a northern area - swimmable for sure, but not bathtub warm like it is in the fall). I hope this helps you make the right decision for you, have a great cruise!
jer_l Posted December 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2007 We did the Yellow Sub tour at the end of November which we booked through Cabo San Lucas Tours. It was one of the last weeks for it. Whenever another boat passed we really moved up and down a lot from the wake of the other boat. We were told that is one of the reasons that they were pulling the excursion during whale watching season. Other than that, it was an exceptional excursion. Our guide, Marina, was amazing. We saw thousands of fish. We also could see scuba divers below us. For my non-swimming wife it was a great alternative to scuba diving. To get to the viewing level you have to go down a ladder attached to the boat like a swimming pool ladder. It's 5 or 6 rungs. I definitely would not recommend this for anyone with mobility issues. For anyone else--it's a fun excursion that's worth the money.

gottago2mexico Posted March 2, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2009 Hi Mike, The Yellow Submarine is out of the water for 6 months undergoing improvements. You might check out the Sea Eye - it's similar to the Yellow Submarine.

I saw something yellow that looked like a submarine coming into the marina this morning. gary
CACruiseLady Posted March 3, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 3, 2009 The Norwegian Star is offering a submarine excursion. What boat is this? The Sea Eye appears to be a unique looking glass bottom boat. We are looking for something where we sit under sea level. Is there such a boat in Cabo anymore?
gtaylor Posted March 3, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 3, 2009 I'm sitting here in Cabo watching a little yellow submarine make its way into the marina right now. I'll try to find out more. gary
canalbound Posted March 3, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 3, 2009 I just took this picture last Wednesday near Lover's Beach. The lower level of this "sub" is glass with seating, or you can ride on top, which I saw people doing when they went by the Arch.
