Conquest 8/29 review....finally!

Let me just start by saying that we had a fantastic week! The fact that we had been in contact with a few people from c.c. really helped, it was GREAT to have new friends on board!

Getting on the ship was fast and easy. We were in our room (8249) by 1:30, and our luggege arrived by 5. We enjoyed lunch on the lido deck.....one of many buffets. The first night we attended the camp carnival family party...a must if you have kids. The staff was great!

We opted to have dinner on the lido deck, so we could watch the departure from our balcony (we had early seating in the monet). Floating down the mississippi was awesome! We stayed awake to watch the transition into the gulf. Really smooth!

The first two days at sea were fun. We had a blast getting to know Cinderelli and her lovely family...we joined forces and won the family scavenger hunt and SHE recieved a standing ovation during the guest talent show...sorry, I am skipping ahead!

My family attended the first formal night, dh in a tux and me in a formal...we were shocked to see that people were allowed into the dining room in SHORTS and JEANS an T- SHIRTS! They really had a I don't care attitude...what a shame!

In Jamaica, we folowed cc's advice and went to Sunset Beach...absolutley loved it! If you go, try the jerk chicken....mmmmm.

Grand Cayman, we booked with Nativeway...(loved them)..three stops and very small group for $25 pp. Best deal! We purchased a dvd of our snorkeling/stingray experience..love it!

Cozumel, we went to Paradise beach. It rained for about an hour, but it was so beautiful! Great food!

We had no problems with our room steward, she was great! Our waitstaff was very friendly, they went out of thier way to make sure we had everything we needed. We miss one guy in particular...Emmanuel from the lido deck breakfast buffet. Every morning he did magic trick for our girls and cinderellis family, he was so hillarious!

The last day at sea was relaxing. Getting off the boat was very easy, and finding our luggaage was no problem.

The best advice I can give you is not to book any excursions with Carnival. Very crowded, and overpriced. I can not tell you how many people I spoke to during the trip who were dissapointed with the ports...thatn goodness for cc!

I also want to say that the only rude behavour we saw was people filling thier plates with food, and taking a few bites. I can't believe the waste!

Over all, it was a great trip! I am happy to answer any questions you all may have!

I had a co-worker who was on that sailing and she said the ship was dirty. I told her it was probably bcause of the group the week before. Did you notice anything out of sorts? Did you hear any "grumblings" from the crew about the week before?

Can't wait to do the Conquest again. We are booked for the 7/31/05 sailing - August 1st is my birthday (44)

I have to say the only filth I saw was the piles of food on the table left behind by a few rude folks. It was amazing to see how much waste was left, and there was no effort to clean up by some. I guess some people really think that "vacation" means no responsibility and no manners. The wait staff was very quick to clean up though, and there were always plenty of clean tables. As far as the rest of the ship was concerned, it was sparkling clean.

On our formal night, after dinner, my dh myself and our two daughters were up on deck 11 dancing in the wind (beautiful night) and a security guy came up and started watching us. I went over to him and struck up a conversation and he started going off about the previous week of cruisers.

He said that there was a 14 yr old who had gotten drunk..don't know how that happened...anyway, he climbed up to the satilite and radio tower (as high as you could possibly climb) and was yelling "i'm on top of the world". He had to be "rescued" and was brought to his parents who were in the casino (drunk as well). To top it off, the father of this kid started yelling at the security guys for not supervising the kids. Some nerve. This guard went on tell us about his family back home, two daughters, and a son. He said it was refreshing to see that my husband and myself were with our children, and this was a family cruise. He shared many stories about unruly behavior, but that was the only story from that week.

I hope you have a great time on your cruise!

We will be going on Oct. 31st and I can't wait! It seems like every place you went to while in port was exactly where we plan on going. I'm glad you enjoyed Sunset Beach Resort and Paradise Beach. :D The only difference is that we are using Soto's for our stingray excursion instead of Nativeway. Other than that, everything is the same, so I'm glad it turned out so well. I feel more confident about our choices while in port now. My only worry is how Jamaica and Grand Cayman fared after Ivan hit them. This week, the Conquest is changing to all Mexican ports because of the hurricane. I'm hoping things will be back to normal for our cruise. I've researched all of our port choices so well. I would hate to end up going somewhere else all together. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I'm glad your experience on the Conquest was so pleasant.:)

Th cost was $60, and worth every penny! The photoghrapher,a lovely lady named Ruth, goes out of her way to make sure she gets a lot of shots of you and your family. She records you getting on the boat, snorkeling, sting rays, and more snorkeling. She then puts music to the video. It is about 40 min long. Hope this helps!
