Capt_BJ Posted January 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2008 No really decent diving around San Juan You need to get to the west end for Destachao (sp?), or Mona islands, or out to the east towards old Rosie Roads Naval Station, or to the south coast..... gmcrow Posted January 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2008 We dove with Caribe Aquatic last year. It was one of the most unusual dives we've ever done. It's a shore dive behind a hotel, serious swim in heavy surge, not great vis, but we did see a sea horse and some other pretty good marine life-- no reef, just a jetty and tires and such. I think the good PR diving is not at San Juan and therefore too far away for cruisers. I'd say do it if you want to add an unusual dive to your list. scubadiver888 Posted January 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2008 fi0na, I would have to agree with gmcrow. I have been to San Juan twice. I looked around and didn't see anything good. Additionally, I have been looking online occasionally. Caribe Aquatics is consistantly listed as the best diving you are going to find in the San Juan area. All the good dive sites I could find are an hour dive to the east of San Juan or completely on the opposite side of the island. I've written off diving in Puerto Rico from the cruise ships. fi0na Posted January 4, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted January 4, 2008 Le boo! :( Thanks for your input. So even with a "7am - 5pm" time in SJ, it's hopeless? LOL

LOL With the exception of the shore dive of unknown quality at the one hotel, I think that's it in a nutshell.
