Questions about Bear Claw Salad mixers....

I got a pair of Bear Claw salad mixers. It's unfinished--rough surface and untreated.

 

I know I need to sand it and buy oil to treat it before using. Can anyone give me tips on what grade of sandpaper to buy and what kind of oil to use?

washed them in soapy water and have been using them ever since.

But,I would take them to a hardware store and ask them and for oil I would use mineral oil.

I imagine you would want to treat with mineral oil - as you would cutting boards, ulu bowls, etc. You can find it in most kitchen stores, bed-bath-beyond/linens n things, etc.
