Shore Dive or Boat Dive?

Will be in Bonaire via the Summit on March 5th, afternoon only.

1 local shop (Dive Inn) has offered a 2 tank shore dive with guide very close to the pier.

Another shop (Wannadive) has a boat dive out at Klein but it will be cutting my time very close.

Any opinions or thoughts.

Thanks

You can't go wrong either way (unless the boat dive makes you miss your ship!).

The shore diving is excellent!! Many people visit Bonaire for extended periods and never step foot on a boat. We will be there next month. We'll go over to Klein Bonaire a couple times but the majority of our dives will be right off our hotel pier. :)

We have just completed a 14-day cruise on the Sea Princess and enjoyed it so much we have booked for next year. We went diving in Bonaire, St Lucia and Grand Turk. Each Island and dive site was completely different, which was great.

In Bonaire, we booked the diving with Blue Divers. We were met off the boat by Anouschka, who then drove us to the dive centre where our certification cards were verified and our pre-ordered equipment was checked out. We were given a descriptive and detailed briefing of Bonaire’s stringent conservation rules and issued with a National Park pass.

We loaded the equipment into a Jeep (which was a bit worse for wear) and off to the first dive site in the south of the Island. No madding crowds here, just the two of us escorted by Anouschka and Horst. Our first dive was at Angel City where we kitted up and walked off the beach into crystal clear, warm sea. During our 65 min dive to 22m we saw barracuda, spotted moray and myriads of reef fish and some of the best coral we have ever seen. Our second dive was at the north of the Island at Andrea II. Again, an easy, relaxing shore dive where we saw turtle, Emperor Angel Fish, Cow Fish and barracuda.

The reefs were absolutely pristine, which is a testament to Bonaire’s long-standing commitment to marine conservation.

Back into the Jeep to return to the dive centre to wash down the kit and then to be dropped off at a bar close to the ship for a couple of well earned beers.

We have been diving for over 30-years and can say that this diving is as good as it gets if you want relaxing, well organised and friendly diving.

My husband used a private dive company ( boat dive) while I used Dive Friends Bonaire ( shore dive). I was totally disappointed in this dive- the reef looked horrible and we only saw a few fish but my husband loved his dive. He said where he was the reef was great!

Dive inn which is now Dive-friends, has been in business since 1995 that I know of. Shore and klein are two different dives. I would do both, No I have done both
