St.Peter great house

We (two women) would like to visit the St.Peter great house when our cruise ship docks at St. Thomas. I understand it is easy to get a taxi at the cruise port. But what about at St. Peter great house for the return trip ? Is St. Peter great house considered an outlying area and taxis are not easily available ? How much is the taxi fare ? Or shall we book some kind of tour to go there (even though we are not interested in beaches, etc.)

Thank you.

Its on the northside of the island, which is largely residential, often driven through by tours because there are nice views, and also Mountain Top is on the northside and its a popular stop for tours.

Contact St. Peter Greathouse and make sure they are open the day you want to go http://www.greathouse-mountaintop.com/. Reason for this suggestion: they host private functions, weddings and so forth; not sure if they are open to the public if they have a function going on.)

Getting there and back: You can take a taxi to St. Peter Greathouse. There usually aren't any taxis parked there though. Here is what you'd want to do: Get the taxi's telephone number that takes you there and ask them for other taxi numbers that you can call to request a taxi when you are finish visiting and ready to return to the ship or have them return for you at a set time. The folks at the Greathouse can assist with calling a taxi. Or you can arrange for a private tour, that way you can choose where you want to go and have St. Peter be one of those places. Its usually pricier to do a private tour than going the group tours, but something to research and see if it works for you.
