Disembarkation day - tour suggestions?

We are returning from Mexican Riviera on the NCL Star Feb 20/08 and our plane home doesn't leave until 10:30 from LAX. We would like to book a city tour for the day with a pickup in close proximity to the tour terminal and a drop-off at LAX (we will have our luggage so it would have to be an escorted tour)...a few questions for the seasoned "cruisers" (this is our first cruise)...

Where would be the best place to pick up a tour? Is there any companies that operate out of the Port itself?

What tour would you recommend (this is our first time in LA)?

What time could we reasonably expect to be off the ship? Lots of the pick up times are between 9 am andn 10 am.

any advise/suggestions are much appreciated!

We called and asked and you can store your luggage at QM and take the shuttle over to the aquarium. Thats what we will be doing in March.

Just be lazy about it and get off the ship last, drop off the bags, spend the day at the aquarium. Have some dinner and go back and pick up our bags and head to the airport for our 8pm flight home.

The OP will be at the Port of LA. That's not that far away from Long Beach, but will require a taxi or shuttle over to the QM (which is next to where your ship is docking). Will the QM store luggage from ships other than Carnival?

Cruisin' Chick - my apologies for the lack of knowledge, but what's the OP? We are cruising with NCL, so would the QM store our luggage? Is there a charge to leave your luggage there?

If we could leave our luggage somewhere safe at a hotel in the shopping district, what about taking a shuttle/taxi to Hollywood/Rodeo Drive/Melrose to do a day of touring around ourselves... has anyone done this? I would rather set my own pace than have a bus waiting for me all the time...plus than I have more $$ to shop!! :)

Would a hotel in that area hold our luggage for a fee for the day?

Just another thought.

Thanks for all the advice.

Lovergirl call Ken at Sunseekers tours (he is also a Canadian) I'll bet he can help you out - get you at the ship - do the tour and get you to the airport - here is his web link.
