Woodsmaster Posted September 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2004 When I was in the navy, we had dye packs that were almost florescent green when released in the ocean. I have seen the "red" ones and they are not very visible. Does anyone have a good line on dye packs that can be carried by a diver?
Hilary Posted September 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2004 I've only seen the red ones, sorry. You could try calling Larry at Scuba Toys. I bet if the green dye packs are to be had that he can find it for you. Do you already carry a mirror?
w&k Posted September 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2004 I ass/u/me that you are looking for visibility on the surface in case you get away from the main group of divers. We carry inflatable tubes in bright orange, and we just replaced our old grotty plastic ones with some new plastic canvas ones. I think they are available just about anywhere at dive shops for about $15. Great diving! Wendy
Woodsmaster Posted September 22, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted September 22, 2004 We carry Safety Sausages and whistles. My sun has a Sonic Alert. I carry a mini DV for a mirror. Seems to work well and does not tarnish as bad as metal, but it is more fragile. Goes in with Dive card. The red dye does not show that well. The green dye almost seemed to jump out of the water. I will fish a few stores on the web and see if anyone still has it. May check army navy surplus, but the pressure factors will come into play. Thanks.
