Final Boarding Time

I would not get there after 4PM for a 5PM sailaway. The reason is that it takes about an hour to pull in and secure all of the gangways, release the lines and finally leave. That's true not only with embarkation but in port as well. Never leave it too close. As one of the Tour Directors (Joe May) said on one cruise, "Be sure to have your camera with you because you could be watching the ship sail without you." And sure 'nuff, that's exactly what happened at the next port (Barcelona) when two couples weren't there and had to make their way overnight to Cannes to catch up with the ship. Last February, on our Golden cruise, we were about to pull away in Montevideo when the Captain came on the PA system to say that we were going to be late sailing because another ship was in our way and it hadn't departed yet. He said, "That's a good thing for the people who can't tell time." And, sure 'nuff, six people came racing up to the ship in taxis about 15 minutes later and just barely made the ship. Our next port was a couple of days away in the Falklands, which is never a "given" that you can make, and then several days to Chile. They would have missed about half the cruise.

Thanks for your reply.

I will be arriving in Fort Lauderdale on a direct flight from Ottawa at 11:20am.

I just want to make sure how much time do I have if the flight is delayed.

Thanks
