intercontinental miami downtown

princess has changed our hotel from bayside to downtown all plans now up in the air ,has anyone stayed there , we had planned to go to bayside mall is there any good malls around d/town if not how far to bayside

I'm not exactly sure where you're staying, or what you're asking...But, we had experiences with both the Marriott Bayside and the Intercontinental, this past week.

 

We were booked at the Intercontinental for both our pre and post cruise stays...But when we got into Miami last Thursday and tried to check-in, we were informed that because of bad weather the Intercontinental was overbooked because of airline crews staying over, and they moved us to the Marriott Bayside, ( paid for the taxi, and tossed in breakfast too).

 

Also, when we returned to the Intercontinental post cruise, we were upgraded to a suite and given club level privleges, i.e. breakfast, afternoon tea, happy hour ( top shelf liquor and enough to eat that it could pass for your dinner) VERY NICE!!

 

The Marriott itself was fine...Rooms clean, but somewhat dated, ( great views though)...The views extended to the bar/restaurant area as well...Staff also very accomodating...BUT, there was no where we felt safe walking to in the area around it...BF went outside to have a cigarette several times, and even while on hotel property was approached by different men for money, cigarettes, etc.

 

The IC is a nicer hotel, and is on the Bayside Markets door...We felt very safe walking there at night, and with the restaurants/bars there, it just provided more options we felt....Hope that answers some of your questions.

princess had said the hotel was the ic bayside

now we have had our documents they have changed the hotel to ic west miami 87th ave in the beacon center district in the doral area 8 mls from the airport.

You are way far west in that hotel (about 10-11 miles from downtown Miami and Bayside, on the highly trafficked Dolphin Expressway).

 

Your best bet from there would be to go to the Dolphin Mall, which is a couple of miles west of where you're going to be.
