pmfm Posted January 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2008 Very interesting link. I've probably taken thousands of cab rides while living in NYC but I don't know if I've ever been driven by a Sherpa. People don't realize it but being a taxi cab driver in NYC is probably one of the top entry level jobs for immigrants who are newly arrived to this county. And in spite of all the horror stories that people have about their cab rides (and I have a few) I think these guys do a pretty good job. greatam Posted January 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2008 http://www.yahoo.com/s/781244 I found this fascinating. Very interesting and timely, especially since Sir Edmund Hillary just died and they have been running the specials on TV about his son and the son of Tenzig Norigay also climbing Mt. Everest. It is very spooky in Nepal/Tibet due to the political situation. It doesn't state in the article, but I wonder if the State Dept. let the sherpas in under political asylum.
