We just got off the Adventure and the Concierge Lounge was not open the first evening for drinks ..DeDe was in the the Lounge and could do services but there was no drink set up or food..She said that has been the policy for years

Hmmmmm....thanks for the update :o Oh well....guess we will all have to find our drinks elsewhere on the first night  Shouldn't be that hard to do.....LOL!

Thanks for all the great posts, we'll be sailing AOS in Feb '09, we're sailing out of San Juan and we're not leaving port until 8:30pm...a couple of questions..

1) If you don't sail until 8:30pm does that mean you can't get on the ship until later in the day? Or can you get on and off the ship?

2) Last year on our cruise JOS, one of the islands was San Juan, is the port where we'll dock in Feb the same one that we were at last year? Or are there more ports?

You can usually get on the ship by around 12:30 or so. Getting on and off is possible but the port for AOS is NOT in Old San Juan so you will not be able to walk to anything.

Hope that helps.

Priority Boarding Question:

We have just made it to Platinum level C&A or whatever level is above the bottom one and apparently that has some sort of boarding privilege with it.

Does anyone know if there are different priority boarding lines? Is there one for Diamond and then another for Suites, etc.

We just travel in the humble confines of insides but will take advantage of priority boarding if allowed...we just want to make sure we get in the right line.

9 sleeps 'til San Juan

10 sleeps 'til I board my favorite ship!!!!

For anyone who needs questions answered, specific pictures taken, cabin information or wants copies of the compass, or menu's - please let me know!!! :D

I'm so jealous. Have a wonderful time. If you have a chance, a copy of the daily compasses would be fantastic. Which itinerary are you on this time?

Congrats on making it to the next level of the C&A Society!

Yes, there is priority boarding for the AOS. Look for the sign that says Platinum/Diamond/Suite Guests and get in that line! When the doors open to the terminal building, it is this line that gets in first. :)

Hi Melissa,

I am planning to bring back current copies of the Compass - so many people are asking for them! I will either scan and post, or I can even mail them to you.

We are doing the Aruba route again!!! It will be our 4th and 5th time, and honestly, I never get tired of it!!!!!

9 days until I sail :D

Robyn, you are so close! We are at 5 weeks now and the anticipation is

building!

Would you also do me a huge favor, if possible, and find out what the menu

is in the dining room on Tuesday and Wednesday? My DH and I want to eat

at Portofino's one of those evenings and send the kids to JR's. We are leaning

toward Tuesday(Aruba) because we are there later, but I want to make sure

that I don't miss any possible favorites:)

Thank you!

Same port, (San Juan), different piers. AOS docks at Pan American Pier on JOS you would have been dock at Old San Juan piers. Here's a great map that shows you the difference and where everything in the immediate area is located: http://www.langland.org/cruises/sanjuan.asp

A couple of questions for recent AOs cruisers as this seems to change form ship to ship...

Do they have Three Card Poker or Let it Ride in the casino? anyone remember the payout tables or at least the major prizes for these two? Anyone knwo if RCCL has any method of rating a gambler (and providing comps if you play enough).

Has anyone seen an alcohol version of the Soda Card. There are reports of some RCCL shiops having 10 drink cards for the Champagne Bar and I was wondering if anyone encountered such a beast on the AOS.

Only 3 week until we head out...can not wait.

What a great ship/itinerary for a first cruise! :)

Which aft balcony do you have booked? You have a lot to look forward to!!!

I wasn't sure if we would love the whole B2B thing - but after doing it on the AOS last year......7 nights just seemed so short! LOL ;)

We have deck 10, aft 1388 booked. I found this one by accident. It's not our original cabin that was booked a year ago. We are sooo looking forward to this cruise. You enjoy yours! :D

No problem Lela - I will make sure I write down the dinner selections for those nights!!! I'm thinking Wednesday is Caribbean night (not a fave for many RCI passengers) so that may be a good night to go to Portofino??

AOS had the 10 drink card for the Champagne Bar last year and someone recently posted a review that it is still there. 10 champagne cocktails for about $45 + gratuity.

Robyn.....I'm getting real concerned about the CL not being open on the first night thing. Be sure and tell Dee Dee that it is NOT policy. Every other CL in the entire fleet is open on the first night. She's making that up!

Okay - I will make it a priority to hunt down Dee Dee and find out what gives with regard to the CL on the first night. If I don't like her answer.....I will storm the door :p

So is it limited to champagne cocktails or can you get martinis, daquiris etc?

It's limited to champagne cocktails. The choices are listed on the back of the card. Also, you can only use it in the Champagne Bar.

Hey Tex Jen, we are about 30 days or so behind you on the Adventure....when itinerary are you doing?

we are on the Aruba route

I know Dee Dee has been the Concierge on the AOS for at least a year, as she was there for our B2B last year too :) I will ask her if she knows what her plans are for next summer.....

This time next Saturday I will be landing in San Juan!!! Still so much to do!!!

Hey Robyn,

I bet you are counting down the days....

We are now going to stay precruise at the Marriott Stellaris...on our way back from the Empress cruise, we had time to kill before our flight and so we checked our bags and hung out on property, had lunch, etc. I figured while we were there we would check out the rooms. We got to see a couple of different catagories. One oceanfront had a balcony big enough to have a party on. I think we are going to book a pool view. What they have done with the renos are fantastic....love the color scheme...

I would consider going there for a long weekend sometime in the future...that's how nice I thought it was.

Are you staying postcruise as well?

I agree 100% - The Stellaris is gorgeous! No, we are not staying post cruise. But we will be there for one night next Saturday and I can't wait! We will be at the hotel by noon :) Last year we had a pool and partial ocean view and the room was lovely. The balcony was levels - you had to step down about 3 steps to get to where the chairs were. I was very impressed with the hotel and highly recommend it!
