Starboard or Port?

We are planning to book a Verandah suite (AA) on the Volendam for a Pacific/New Zealand cruise in September, 2008. The route circles the Hawaiian Islands, visits the Samoas and Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia, and ends with a circle trip around the North Island of New Zealand, the final leg of which is Wellington to Auckland.

The question: Which side of the ship will provide the "landward" views of the portions of the cruise which circle the various islands? It looks like the starboard side is the proper one, but I am not sure.

Many thanks,

If you are sailing from Wgtn to Auckland then you will need to be on the port side to see land. Believe me I know I live here :D

The ship is the Volendam, sailing from Los Angeles on September 25, 2008. The Itinerary around New Zealand is:

Bay of Islands

Tauranga

Napier

Wellington

Auckland

The ship will be coming from Noumea, New Caledonia.

Best,
