Virgin Islands?

The US Virgin Islands are St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John. Most ships stop in St. Thomas, a few in St. Croix.

The British Virgin Islands are Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada with a bunch of smaller islands. Of these, I think Tortola is the only one the larger ships visit.

Some of the cruise lines with smaller ships and more exotic itineraries stop in the smaller islands, but you'll mostly find St. Thomas and Tortola on the mainstream, run of the mill itineraries.

HTH!

There is a website that will allow you to identify which ships go to any ocean or river port in the world. Go to http://www.choosingcruising.co.uk/Cruiseweb/Ports_CL.asp and click on the first letter under "Ocean Ports" for the port you are interested in. For example, if you clicked on "S" and then from the long list, St. Croix, you will see that the Seabourn Pride and Seabourn Legend stop there on various dates. Since this is a UK site, note that the dates begin with the day and not the month.

Most ships that do an Eastern cruise go to the Virgin Islands, (usually St. Thomas). A lot of ships that do Southern Cruises also go to the Virgin Islands, again, usually St. Thomas. St. John is just a short ferry ride from St. Thomas and is very easy to get to on your own. I haven't been to the other islands that Amapola spoke of, but sure would love to!

Hi Michelle - thanks for the heads up on the St. Thomas route - my sister in law and brother in law are going with us and they will have just celebrated their first wedding anniversary before we cruise and they went to the Virgin Islands (not sure where exactly) for their honeymoon and really want to go back.

Trac~ :)
