mnstar Posted April 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Please help! We are planning to meet two young (college aged) friends for breakfast on a Saturday morning at 8:30 am. From there, we will be catching a bus from the Aloha Tower at 10:30 out to the PPC. Where do you suggest we plan to meet them for a very nice breakfast near there. Do any of the hotels nearby have a good "brunch" early on Saturday morning? (These kids will be ready to eat alot!) or, just a very good made to order breakfast? Thanks to all who've been there and done this! mnstar on the Star 4/18 First cruise, first trip to Hawaii, 25th Anni. celebration
Treven Posted April 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2004 If you are staying at the DoubleTree, just about a 3 minute walk to your right as you leave the hotel property, and across one little ole street is the Wailana coffee shop. I had breakfast there just about every morning I was in Waikiki. LOVED their Eggs Benedict. Very comfortable place for breakfast, and the staff does not hurry you out just because you're done eating. Many a morning I lingered over another cup of coffee, reading a book. spleen93 Posted April 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I'm confused - so you're asking for a breakfast place around Aloha Tower? Hmmm ... that's tough. Most of the places there are more nightlife oriented. I'll think about it. CaribbeanBound Posted April 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2004 You might try Honolulu Cafe in the Grosvenor Center (across the street from Aloha Tower Marketplace, 741 Bishop St. 808-533-1555). Best nearby bet might be Sunset Grill! They do a great breakfast. They are located at Restaurant Row (Waterfront Plaza), about 5 blocks Diamond Head of Aloha Tower Marketplace 808-521-4409. spleen93 Posted April 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2004 You know, I thought about Sunset Grill - but then I did more research and came across this: Sunset Grill Restaurant Row 500 Ala Moana Blvd. Honolulu, HI 98613 Phone: 808-521-4409 Fax: 808-949-4757 American cooking at its finest. Enjoy pasta, steak, seafood keawe-grill style. Over 800 wine selections. American cuisine since 1988. Validated parking. Hours of Operation: Weekdays 11am - 11pm; Weekends 5:30pm - 11pm Payment Method: All major credit cards accepted. So that didn't seem to be consistent with breakfast. I've never been to Honolulu Cafe though - I don't work in downtown or anywhere nearby for that matter so I'm woefully unknowledgeable (is that a word?) about the area ... CaribbeanBound Posted April 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2004 If those hours for Sunset Grill are correct, then maybe they did away with their breakfast. Hmmm. They used to have awesome raspberry muffins.
808lady Posted August 22, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 22, 2004 I was just at the Honolulu cafe this week for a dry scone (yuck!) but the eggs looked pretty darn good.

orderby Posted August 22, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 22, 2004 Isn't Don Ho's Island Grill open for breakfast?
Suebee Posted August 22, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 22, 2004 Don Ho opens at 10am, according to my entertainment book. BL&C (Breakfast Lunch and Crab) is not far from the tower...you could walk it. And Zippys is always next door to that. I am blanking on anything closer...but BL&C isnt far at all.
spleen93 Posted August 22, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 22, 2004 BL&C is walkable distance from the Aloha Tower. Breakfast is probably their best meal. You might want to try their loco moco - they've got some interesting varieties. :) Spleen
