nicole9s Posted January 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2008 On Century, is one side of the ship designated non-smoking versus the other? Either in the bars or the cabins? My other question is, where IS cigar smoking allowed? My fiance (will be hubby on the cruise!) is looking forward to buying a Cuban cigar in Grand Cayman (they are obtainable there, right?) and having it on the ship. Thanks! :)
kitty9 Posted January 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2008 In the public rooms and on deck, smoking is allowed on starboard. No smoking in the dining room, buffet, or Celebrity Theater. Cigars are only allowed on deck on starboard side, not anywhere inside the ship, not even in the casino. On Summit, smoking in the casino is restricted to one small area of slot machines on starboard.
Schusize Posted January 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2008 Nicole, I received my boarding information for my Millennium cruise in February. The package stated that smoking is permitted on the port side only and in the bars / casino. Not sure how they will inforce that. As for cigars, there is a designated bar for cigars. They request you do not smoke them on the balcony. Every ship I've been on, someone is smoking that Cuban...including myself. Keep in mind, our current administration has made it very clear that an American purchasing Cubans anywhere in the world is commiting a crime. Govern yourself and your husband accordingly. You are probably being watched as you read replies! Just don't inhale! Ha!
Susan-M Posted January 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2008 Schusize: Is the policy in your cruise document different that what is posted on their website? From Celebrity's Website-FAQ section: Cigarette Smoking is permitted: • In staterooms. • In designated areas on the port (left) side of most public areas (Lounges, Bars, Decks). Cigarette Smoking is not permitted: • In the Celebrity Theater. • In the Cinema. • In the Conference Center. • In the Dining Room. • In the Elevators. • On the starboard (right) side of the ship, either indoors or outdoors. Pipe and Cigar Smoking: • Pipe and cigar smoking is only allowed in specifically designated areas on outer decks of the vessel. • Please check with the Guest Relations Desk for these specific venues. • Please note that at no time is cigar and pipe smoking permitted in staterooms/suites or on their verandas. Schusize Posted January 19, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2008 Susan, Per your question: Is the policy in your cruise document different that what is posted on their website? Yes, it was different. I'm guessing with so much information generated at different times, the website is the most up to date. The printed information I got might be rather old. I've never been on a cruise were I found smoking to be a problem. I'm not a smoker but I do like a cigar once in a while. Oh, and in case our Government is reading this...I only smoke Dominican Republic cigars. PS. Nicole, make sure to purchase those "offical cigars" from a trusted vendor. There are so many fakes out there.
Susan-M Posted January 19, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2008 oh my goodness, is it the port side or starboard side that it is allowed on? LOL LOL...a little confusing isn't it. It's port side....but looking back at my docs from '05 on Millie, I see that it shows "Starboard" which must have been a misprint. Schusize: I see that the printed docs have the 'condensed version' of the smoking policy. Also note that the policy may change as Celebrity conducted a survey recently on their smoking policy, they have recently made further restrictions on Royal Caribbean and have very restrictive designated smoking areas on their two Azamara ships.
