Not able to go to Grand Cayman?

Due to sail on the Sensation in two weeks. As you all know Grand Cayman took a hard hit from Ivan. :( We are sailing out of Tampa and I assume we are still going to Coz. Carnival has not said yet what the new port will be. Need your best guess as to were Carnival will take us instead of going to GC.

This is our first cruise and can't wait to start a great vacation.

I know you won't know 100% which port, just need some ideas so I can start researching.

Thank you,

Shane

Carnival is still trying to figure out what to substitute for GC. We sail this Saturday on the Triumph, and when I called Carnival earlier today, they were still saying we were going to GC - which is just not going to happen. I know GC was expecting at least 4 cruise ships a day nearly every day this month, and now all the lines are scrambling to find a different port.

Look at it as an adventure. What else can you do? :)

Well, this week they substituted Nassau for Grand Cayman on Sensation. I think the best thing to do is to keep checking Carnival's web site. They are posting all the changes there. The one thing you can count on is that you won't be visiting Grand Cayman in two weeks. The island was devastated, and they're seeking humanitarian aid. :(

right here from the hurricane updates listed on Cruise Critic's home page:

Jamaica's got good news. Just a few days after Hurricane Ivan brushed past the island with its Category Five winds, Jamaica is ready to begin welcoming cruise ships. Princess' Caribbean Princess has already visited Montego Bay and Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas spent the day at Ocho Rios.

No matter where you will go, if not GC, I hope you have a wonderful first cruise. We were to visit the island last December and the sea was too rough. The port authority wouldn't let the tenders leave the dock, so we didnot get to visit. This can happen at any port that has tenders. Good luck and have a ball!!

Thanks IBEEMOM, We are very VERY excited! When we booked several months ago hurricane season did not even cross my mind. (Have not had to many of those to look out for here in Idaho :) )

Jump'nJack, I have been looking at Costa Maya, this looks like it would be a fun port. If Carnival would just make up there mind about what they will do with us once we are captive on the ship I could start looking at excursions.
