Carnival Glory

Our good friends are leaving 2/01 on a Caribbean cruise with the Carnival Glory. They would like input from those who have sailed her recently...

food, accommodtions, service, activities, entertainment, soft drink cards,

dress, whatever! Thoughts?

Glory R-O-C-K-S-! The ship is fabulous, Port Canaveral is the best, if you don't like Glory, cruisin ain't for you! You don't mention if it's the eastern or western itinerary. Personally, we thought the weather/seas were better on the western, enjoyed the ports/scenery better on the eastern. I'd have fun on Glory tied to the pier for 7 days.

I'm recently off the Glorey as well and will be boarding her again on Aril 5, I guess that says something about how much I enjoyed myself!

As for soda cards, I got one my first cruise and I tHink I only used it 3 times, expensive sodas! Unless you're big soda drinkers, I wouldn't bother.

Just off Glory and it was marvelous. Shows were okay but the food was great. We were on the western carribean. Mr. Sanchez beach in Cozumel was a blast - 13.00 taxi and free beach with good food and beer. Nice accomodations and the snorkeling was fantastic. We did the zip line in Belize and thought we got our money out of it and more. Tons of fun and very informative. We just shopped in Nassah and hit Senior Frogs. It was very crowded with 5 ships in port and you could not move. We ended up with more beer spilt on us than we drank.

The soda card in my opinion is the biggest scam Carnival has going. You can only get soda in a small cup and have to return to bar for refill. They will not give you the can, you must keep returning. You can not get it with room service. Tacklling a bunch of thirsty cruise mates wanting their drinks when your food is sitting and getting cold is a drag. If you buy a canned soda it is only a 1.50 and chances are you are not going to but 5.50 a day in soda. If you buy the big red cup for 4.50 you can get it filled, but it is hard to carry around all day and keep up with. Just my opinion others may disagree.

I had a wonderful time on the Glory and am jealous. I would love to return on the eastern itenerary soon. The only advice I would give is to get up early if you want to get good seat by pool or in sun on sea days. The last day we were slow getting out of bed and could not find a place vacant to lay anywhere on the ship. Of course towels occupied most of the seats .

Do not miss chocolate buffet on Nassah day. Yum! It is served for lunch not dinner so try to make it as soon as you get back on ship if you leave.

I sailed the Western Caribbean on the Glory and it was one of the best

ships I have ever been on. I have NO complaints what-so-ever. I thought the food in the dining room was great ( if you are looking for Gourmet, don't look here). This was a very fun, lively ship. Everyone was friendly, helpful etc. etc . I can't say enough about it. I am sure they will have a blast :)

Any Conquest class ship is a favorite and I could just stay tied up to the dock for 7 days and still have a blast (if they would open the shops and casino :D )

And Port Canaveral is my VERY favorite embarkation port. Easiest time I've ever had. Can't wait for our B2B in AUG/SEP.

One word of minor caution. LOTS of people seem to have trouble getting oriented on this size ship. Spend as much time as possible on Carnivals website checking out the deck plans. Try to have it mapped out in your head in advance that if you're in your cabin on deck 6 mid-ship(or where ever), which would be the best way to get to the pizza place on the aft lido? or the gift shops on deck 5 forward, or to your dining room.... and just how do you get to that specialty restaurant (only one elevator takes you there)

I've never experienced bad crew, food, activities or anything on a Carnival cruise no matter which ship I'm on. I guess that's why I've got 12, 13 14 and 15 booked in 2008
