triumph for teens

We are sailing on Carnival Triumph on February 16. Our group includes my 14 yr old son and 16 yr old niece. What does this ship have to offer? Unfortunately they are in different age groups for the ship sponsored activities. How strict are they with this? Does this ship have a good arcade? How about any sports like basketball, volleyball, ping pong, or minigolf? Thanks.

Although we haven't been on the Triumph, most of the ships offer about the same amenities for kids.

For your teens, the kids are allowed to check themselves in and out of camp on their own. You'll get a schedule on the first night at the registration party. My boys pick the activities that they want to do and just sign in for those particular things. They don't spend all day in the camp.

Your kids will probably make friends with a small group and end up hanging out with them for the entire cruise. (After making friends, they might not go to the camp again.)

There is basketball and ping pong, I'm not sure about mini-golf. If your kids are big into basketball or ping pong have them bring their own balls and paddles. These materials need to be checked out to play and sometimes they are hard to track down.

The arcades on Carnival are a pretty good size with about 20 games, a couple air hockey tables and foosball. The games take tokens which equal .25 cents each. Most games take 2 - 4 tokens for one play. So have your kids start saving now!

Hope this helps!

Can someone please confirm that there is no fee associated with camp carnival or O2. I know about the late night fee for the "slumber party". But just to do the regular activities during normal hours, is there a fee?

We haven't been on the Triumph, but on other ships (Fantasy, Miracle, Liberty) outside of 'babysitting charges, we've never been charged a fee for activities, other than a 'build a bear' like activity they have.

Camps ages go in age groups for the age they are the date of sailing.

You are sailing during a high peak time so will say that the camps will be strict on the ages.

your 14 year old will be seperated from the 15-17 age group which have their own area.

your kids will need a birth certificate to board- and you needed a birth date in order to book them on a cruise. the cruise lines will know how old the kids are.

The 12-14 year old program sucks big time. Make sure your young teen goes to the meeting the first night to meet the other kids. most kids this age tend to hang out together during the week. Playing cards, board games, sitting in hot tubs etc. There will be quite a few kids onboard so your 14 year old wont have a hard time finding someone to hang out with.

If the 14 year old balks at going tell them its mandatory they attend -- they will NOT be sorry they did.

Early dinner will help also- msot activities are happening during 8pm through 10pm and this is when the later dinner is..
