libbydic Posted September 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2004 I have never sailed on HAL but am considering it. I Enjoy and have been on both Royal Carribbean and Princess will I be disappointed. What are the differences?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. mixer911 Posted September 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2004 This is our first cruise on HAL also. Been on RCCI 3 times. Time for a change. I am hoping for better food than RCCI. And maybe a little more relaxed setting. Don't get me wrong I like partying, just not with 3100 people.
Tatka Posted September 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2004 Well.. I've only sailed on 1 RCCL (Splendour) and 1 HAL (Zuiderdam). HAL pluses: 1) More upscale feeling. 2) Better food in dining room. MUCH better food in buffets!!! 3) Larger staterooms. 4) Better matresses, and linings. Robes in every cabin 5) Fruit bowls 6) Better selections for room service. 7) Tons of artwork throughout the ship!!! RCI pluses: 1) Faster service 2) Pools open 24 hours a day 3) Salt water pools (big plus for me) 4) Lots of glass, great autriums
kelelmel Posted September 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2004 I have my first HAL cruise upcoming in Nov. I've cruised on RCCL 4 times. IMO they were not meeting and certainly not exceeding my expectations towards the end. I wanted to try something different, hopefully a little more luxurious, refined and, as Mixer said, better food. At this moment, I would certainly sail RCCL again (let's face it, is there such a thing as a bad cruise?). Let's see if I feel differently once I've done a HAL cruise. stanjj111 Posted September 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2004 Been on Adventures of the Seas and Grand Princess. Enjoyed both. What could be bad? RCL much larger lots of noise. Princess, smaller quieter, better food. Will try all lines and then try them again to compare. Basically, you are away for a week or more, eating, sunning, swimming in the winter. tommy Posted September 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 18, 2004 We have done most of the major lines and have never had a bad cruise, some a little better than others. It seems with each passing year the lines are getting more and more similar, just some a little bigger.
