I have kayaked here, very scenic area. But do not expect orcas, not sure why the name, in fact, overall very little wildlife other than birds.

BQ...we are booked with Southeast Sea Kayaking to go to Orca Cove on May 9th. What is the scenery like? Will we get close to any glaciers? How about seeing sea otters? Also, what are the chances for newbie kayakers, like us, to tip over?

Thanks for your response.

No glaciers here that I am aware of. We did not see otters, but were delighted to encounter a group of sealions that played around the kayaks...spyhopping and posing for pictures:) Also a nice variety of birds (eagles, loons, interesting sea ducks). The scenery is lovely. They use large and stable kayaks....you are not at all likely to tip.

No glaciers, no sea otters. As already mentioned, usual sightings are some birds. It is "green" scenery, frankly, not anything real special in overall Alaska.

You will be given instructions on kayaking, which are easy and should prevent tipping over.
