cathyz Posted February 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2008 can i take an iron on board for my dress paints or do they have one for me to use No, irons on a ship are considered a fire hazard, but there are laundry rooms with irons and boards that you can use. Or clothing steamers are OK too.
terrib1964 Posted February 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2008 They don't allow irons, but they do allow steamers, and there is a laundry room that has an iron and ironing board. However, if you're mostly worried about wrinkles, and not so much about your crease...may I suggest a $4 bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release? Amazing stuff (and it doesn't stink either). :D
roudy1 Posted February 1, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2008 Does the Downy Wrinkle Release leave spots? Thanks, Char

terrib1964 Posted February 1, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2008 No it doesn't, but it does take a little while to dry, so unless you plan on standing there with the hair dryer, I wouldn't spray them right before dinner.:D I just sprayed my clothes as I was unpacking, hung them up, gave a little tug at the corners, and I was good to go for the week. TakeMeAway1001 Posted February 1, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2008 I used the Downey WR and then used the hairdryer to speed things up, worked great. Enjoy your cruise~
MrPete Posted February 1, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2008 can i take an iron on board for my dress paints or do they have one for me to use They have one for you to use in the launderettes, or you can send it out to be pressed.
Chigirlcruzin Posted February 1, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2008 Does the Downy Wrinkle Release leave spots? Thanks, Char Depends on the fabric. It left spots on one of my silk dresses, a dress that that does not water spot.
big_duck Posted February 1, 2008 #11 Share Posted February 1, 2008 They have one for you to use in the launderettes, or you can send it out to be pressed. I like that idea, costs a little bit - but it's vacation dammit. :D
Cotton Posted February 1, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 1, 2008 Although the spray doesn't leave visible spots.....some have said it does show up in the photos. I use the spray on vacations w/no problem. I have also used the one from Dollar Tree ....only $1, of course...and works just fine.
DesertDeuces Posted February 1, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 1, 2008 I simply lightly dampen my garment, then use the hair dryer on it. Works, and saves space in my luggage.
ParrotRob Posted February 2, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 2, 2008 For a buck and a half they'll press it for you. Even starch it if you like.
miami Posted February 2, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 2, 2008 Hang your clothes in the bathroom, put the shower on hot, close the door. In a few minutes the wrinkles will be gone.
vacruizer Posted February 2, 2008 #16 Share Posted February 2, 2008 The Downy stuff works great and I haven't had any problems with spots. Also - no problems in the pictures at all. Target has travel size bottles of it.
Bran8778 Posted February 2, 2008 #17 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I didn't know you were not allowed to bring irons on the ship!! I am an iron freak and can't travel without one. I have had my mini travel iron on nearly every cruise. NOW I KNOW!!!
DesertDeuces Posted February 2, 2008 #18 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I manage 26 apartments. When, for whatever reason, the electric company has to turn on service, I have to be the one to flip the main switch. Power company will not. Reason is: if anyone has had their iron plugged in an on while the power was out, there's a possibility of a fire. So, I have to wait for the tenant to request that I flip the switch. AND, the apartment is not MOVING - a ship is.

kyrisong1 Posted February 2, 2008 #21 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I'm another one that simply puts my dress in the bathroom while I shower, it's a natural steamer:D Have a great cruise. Carole
VentureMan_2000 Posted February 2, 2008 #22 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I too suggest a $4 bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release. I usually use it first thing when I hang up my clothes. This gives it a couple days to release and relax back to shape. I have never had an issue using this method. Have a great cruise. p.s., did you get a scolding not to bring an iron...? Most people do. I didn't read the whole thread.

AandBmom Posted February 16, 2008 #25 Share Posted February 16, 2008 I agree with the two posters that suggested the hot shower natural steamer. It works like a charm, it's free (to the traveller at least) and it doesn't take up any packing room. But hey the wedding I got as a wedding present is still unopened in it's original box so maybe I'm not one to comment here. Although my thought is, I'm going to be on vacation and whilst I like to look nice, I'm not going to be worried about a couple of wrinkles.
