Culebrita & Esperanza

Culebrita - Nice, quiet island with a beach and a lighthouse. Take a cooler with some drinks ashore. It's a nice hike (so I hear) to the lighthouse and the other side of the island.

Esperanza - Do the Bio-Bay tour. It's unlike anything you've experienced before. Don't know of anywhere else like it. The town is small and interesting to walk around but doesn't take a lot of time to see it all, unless you are trapped in a beachfront bar.

These are nice ports which are different from the usual fare offered by SeaDream and other cruise lines in the Caribbean. In fact, I expect that few, if any, cruise lines call at either of them.

Does anyone have a comment or suggestions for the day?

thanks

Culebra is just a little island with really no permanent structures and in all probability noone else expect Seadream guests ashore. You can join a crew hike up to the remains of the lighthouse for a good view. It's really just a hill. Maybe 20 minutes walking time up there. Take bug spray.

You can also hike to tortuga beach which will be more secluded than the beach the zodiacs land on. This is also a 20-30 minute hike. We went early in the season and the trail has been really rough. Lots of thorns and sometimes you had to go down real low to get by some obstacles. The beach is nice and we saw two turtles there.

Other than that a lot of guest hang out right where the zodiacs land.

In Vieques you will land inside "town" which is really just a few bars. The eco tour leaves from there but it is only worth doing it if there is no full moon and if there's clouds. The more light there is the harder it is to see the bioluminescent organisms. If it is dark it will be really cool. If it is too light you will be disappointed.

Hope this helps.
