So aside from the 2 formal nights, collared shirts and khakis are okay for the men?? How was your cruise, holmrun?? How is the weather in the Caribbean in Feb? Is it warm enough to swim??

Collared shirts and khaki pants will be fine.

That's actually what I wore to dinner each of the 5 other nights. Khakis and a polo shirt of some sort and was fine. The weather was fantastic - little rough the first few days as the winds were very strong but was mid-upper 80's to 93 for a high the whole week. The water was cool when you would first jump in, but after a minute or two you were fine and once you got out you weren't looking for the nearest towel to quickly dry off either. It was our first cruise and we both loved the whole concept of a cruise vacation. We had our reservations right up to the time we got on the ship, but they were quickly washed away as soon as I realized that for the next 7 days I didn't have to think about anything. No keeping to a schedule to get to motels or stopping to get gas or see this and that. Food was always there and the bed was always there and there was ALWAYS something to do. Very relaxing vacation and I do believe we are officially hooked! I just wish I found this site sooner to have made a few different decisions to save a little money.

Hi Brennan,

You'll have a blast if you go on the liberty! The only real big things were the style of room. For the amount of time you actually spend in the room (husband and wife with no kids) a simple cheaper interior room would've been fine. We would've chosen our excursions a little differently as we weren't completely satisfied with the ones we took. And little things like getting money from the casino instead of ATM etc since there is no charge added on. Just would've been a bit more prepared for what we were getting into. This was our first cruise and we booked on a whim just before XMas as a present to ourselves. I'm really more of a read/research think.... research some more... think.... then purchase type of person. Don't get me wrong, we both had a blast with no regrets, but rest assured we will be doing way more research the next time around. :)

I'm also just back from the same sailing. Am working on a summary post with some suggestions that I hope to post later today. I've also posted a few thoughts in reply to some other threads in the San Juan forum and here... [i think you can search by user name to find them].

In terms of saving money I would say that we didn't need an excursion in either St. Marten or Labadee and had wonderful days both places!
