Live from the Westerdam.....Grand Turk

We are on the beautiful Westerdam on the 2/3-2/10 cruise and I cannot say enough about the service service service.......FABULOUS!! I can say this is one of the better ships, the food is wonderful, great, fantastic and the ship is clean clean clean.....

 

We are in an inside J (not as tiny as I imagined, plenty of closet space and the bathroom has tons of space below the sink and a medicine cabinet so don't fret.

 

We are doing quite well in the casino and my husband won the blackjack tournment last night and it was a big $500 plus a bag of goodies from the spa and art collections....whooo-hooo, plus I won $350 on the slots!

 

Today is Grand TUrks and it is a nice beautiful island but not too much going on, just Margaritaville! HAHA......

 

more later if we get a chance.........we're on vacation!!!!

OK, here are some answers to all that ask, by the way, we are in St. Maaten today and it was WOW!!!

 

The cruise director is new this cruise as he just came on board, his name

is Jason, sorry didn't get the last name.

 

Jimmy is at the piano bar.

 

Margaritaville is a BIG disappointment if you are truly a margarita fan, they are premade, frozen and crummy! The place is beautiful, but this is a touristy area anyway.

 

The Westerdam is AWESOME and just the best, today as we reboarded the vessel from St. Maaten, the crew was waiting for us with cool wash cloths to wash off the day, it was great!

 

The grapefruit cosmos are too wonderful for words and I did pass on your message as I have had 4 of them so far.........

 

Will try to email one more time if I get a chance afterall, we are on vacation! Did I mention the food is to die for!!!

I totally agree with you about Margaritaville -- over-priced drinks and food and very expensive souvenirs!

 

I have tried making those grapefruit cosmos at home, but somehow they are not the same so please have a couple more for me:o

The ship sounds so classy. I have a long wait for the westerdam this Nov. I have never sailed with HAL. I booked an Gly inside and are hoping for the upgrade fairy to visit me. Thanks for taking time out of your cruise to send all of us an update on the westerdam:) Hope that you have the time of your life:D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi to you Lucy and to Beth! Glad to see you on the boards again. Thanks for the nice words about my Mom. Sol and Ron were definitely two of the best bartenders I have ever encountered and I really miss my nightly Cosmo.

 

My son and I are off on the Radiance next week (feels like I just got back!) then I am tentatively booked on Eurodam next Dec. Maybe we'll meet again!

Absolutely. I was just diving there last month, and the reef is great. But - let's face it - given HAL's demographic, most pax will never get there. The Zuiderdam's intro to scuba excursion was canceled when only one person signed up.
