codyboy Posted February 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2008 HEllo You may think we are waaaayyy to early to look into it, but in August 2009 we will be on Marier of the Seas for Mexican Rivera Cruise. Start from LA nd end in LA. What are the good hotels with reasonable rates are near and closeest to the Port. Otherise we were think of flying on same day to cruise.:D
JJ2sail Posted February 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2008 That's okay, we're booked for June of 09 on Mariner! The port is in San Pedro. We've been having good luck on Priceline and Hotwire getting the Crowne Plaza or Double Tree in San Pedro. Or I also like the Hyatt in Long Beach. Cruisin' Chick Posted February 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2008 I always advise people to get to their embarkation city at least a day ahead if flying or going by train. You never know when there's flight changes or cancellations due to weather conditions, labor problems, bankruptcy on the part of the airline, mechanical problems. You'll be leaving from the Port of LA, which is in San Pedro as noted above. Many people stay in San Pedro (not an exciting city, mostly industrial around the harbor and residential up on the hill), Long Beach (where Carnival sails out from, but it has some attractions such as the excellent Aquarium of the Pacific), Santa Monica (nice city that you can walk around)... Just be aware if you go on price alone, you may end up in a dump or an undesirable location (such as downtown LA). Check out the threads on hotels here for some good recs. andreadan Posted February 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2008 a nice accomodation at the Crowne Plaza or the Doubletree Marina Hotel as those are the only 3 stars in the San Pedro area near the Los Angeles Cruise Terminal. Forget Santa Monica as it is about 30 miles away and depending on traffic, a one- to two-hour drive.
