ebkbs Posted February 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2008 We will be in Ketchikan from 2pm - 8 pm on August 29th on HAL. We want to see the wilderness and prefer the independent tours. We wanted to take a flight to Anan to see the bear. When I contacted Island Wings I was told that we were there to late in the day and they would not recommend or take us to Anan due to the time. I respect their opinion but I notice our ship has an excursion to both Anan and Neets Bay to see bear. Since this is such an expensive trip, should we take one of the ships excursions, and if so, which place would you recommend for Aug 29 - Anan or Neets? Or is this a little late in the season for bear and our money would be better spent kayaking or a trip to Misty Fjords?
fti Posted February 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2008 Try Traitors Cove. Their peak is the end of August. Same operators that go to Anan should bring you to Traitors. John
Budget Queen Posted February 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2008 You are too late in the season for Anan. Look at Traitor's for peak independent, or Neets- which is ship contracted.
