docmsf Posted February 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Help--Does it matter when traveling north if your suite is on the starboard or port side of the ship? We really enjoy our balcony and want to take advantage of the best views.

We really enjoy our balcony and want to take advantage of the best views. When traveling north, the starboard side would be the more desirable (facing the shore). The port side would be facing out to the pacific (except when on the inside passage, in port, etc).
gazingm42 Posted February 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I agree that starboard is best when going northbound.

DD Posted February 12, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Some posters feel that the port side is preferable if your cruise is going to Glacier Bay, regardless of the direction your ship is going (northbound vs. southbound).
Budget Queen Posted February 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2008 IF you are only going to view Glacier Bay or College Fjords FROM your cabin you need a port side. Also, ships no longer sail "coastal" and in the Inside Passage, both sides have about equal scenic views. So the "old" starboard for north and port for south isn't anything what it used to be.
